Mom went to the doctor today too for them to check on the baby. Mom is at week 36. We think that is a very long time to be carrying a baby around. We think she agrees because shes always whining about something hurting. They want to do another ultrasound to check the position of the baby because the doctor couldn't tell if the head was down or not. Stupid doctor is going on vacation next week too. Well enough for updates for now. We will let you know how our dad feels tomorrow. It might be a week or so when we find out anything from the biopsy.

Dad's Surgery
Today is the day of Dad's surgery. He is having another biopsy done on his larynx to check the tissue. Last time it came back as moderate dysplasia. We are hoping for it to either be the same or nothing this time. We need all the purrs we can get for him so Dad can be healthy. Dad's surgery is at 1:15pm. Last time the surgery didn't take that long but then he has to recover and then there is an hour drive back home. We will either update in the evening when the humans get back or Saturday. The results on the other hand make us all nervous. Mom says that she will be happy to know something and to know where to go from there. Dad is young and strong and whatever it is we know he can fight it.

Worried Wednesday
Today is another worried Wednesday at our house. Remember way back in November when we told you our Dad had surgery and all that. Since then he has to go see the throat doctor every 6 weeks for a checkup. He had one yesterday and they are wanting to go back in for another biopsy. The abnormal tissue is on his larynx so they can't just go digging and take stuff out. Last time it came out as moderate dysplasia so it is something we need to keep watch on. We are hoping that that is all it is again and that has not advanced. They have scheduled his surgery for March 13th. We are a little worried because that is Friday the 13th. Our Grandma is coming to stay and take Dad to Iowa City since Mom is pregnant and will be about 36 weeks along at that point we don't want her to take any chances having to drive an hour away. Mom's eyes have been leaking a lot because she's very scared for Dad and upset that this is happening. This time of stuff usually happens to people over the age of 55 and that are heavy smokers. Dad is only 25 and does not smoke. Hopefully that will make it easier for him to fight it. We would just like you guys to keep us in your thoughts. The next couple months will be hard with his surgery, finding out the results and having a baby. We will keep everyone posted as to how things are going. The biopsy surgery is pretty minor so we will have our Dad home that day. The waiting for the results is hard, last time it was a month before we heard anything. Until then we are going to stay positive and have fun with our Dad. We are getting a little restless to go outside so we hope Spring comes soon. Nemo is also going to share his story soon of throat surgery.

Wordy Wednesday
This is an old picture of us. We never lay together anymore like this and mom wishes we would be more nice to one another. We have some news about our dad that we would like to share. Our mom and dad went to his followup appointment about his biopsy and his sleep study. We didn't get such great news, but it is not all bad either. With the sleep study they found that dad was stopping breathing every 30 seconds. That is not such good news but they are going to give him a CPAP machine that will make him stop snoring and make him get some good sleep. His snoring has been going on for 10 years so we can't wait for him to finally sleep well and allow mom and the new baby to sleep as well. As for the biopsy on his larynx they found moderate dysplasia. Mom says that dysplasia means abnormal cells. There are 3 forms before they are cancerous, mild, moderate, severe. That they found it at all is just a lucky break and our dad is only 25 (which seems old to us) is good. Now our dad has to go every 6 weeks to get the camera thing shoved up his nose and down his throat to keep an eye on it. If anything returns they will take it out. Most people who have this type are heavy smokers and when they find anything on the larynx it is later in life. Our dad does not smoke but did grow up around smoking. We would like to encourage anyone who smokes to stop and think about what you could be doing to your body but more importantly, look at the others around you, especially kids. Enough of the doom and gloom. We will need continuous purrs from everyone through this but we are glad that we have the ability to know this early and to keep an eye on it. As for our mom, she goes to the doctor today to checkup on the baby and hopefully schedule some sort of picture taking of it inside her. This sounds weird but we'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and its snowing again. Maybe another 4 inches by tonight. Mom will take a picture to show later. Sorry for the wordy post.

Purr loud for our dad.
Nemo here. I made it back from the vet today and it wasn't that bad. The worst part was that they waited to give me my fancy feast until after the vet so it seemed like a really long wait for breakfast. It was raining and cold out though. We usually walk on our leashes to the vet and I'm always with my sister when we go but this time it was just me. There were no other animals there yet but my tail got big and puffy and my paws got all sweaty. My sister is usually the brave one to walk in and check out the situation while I slowly try to sneak in undetected. I don't like going there without her. The vet looked at my eye and gave me more drops. I hate the drops but I also am sick of squinting so my humans say that it will make me better. Mom said she wishes she could go to the vet because their prices are much more reasonable there. I have to tell you about something very important about my dad. He has to have surgery tomorrow and have a biopsy for a lump on his larynx. He is pretty young and doesn't smoke so it is likely that it isn't serious but he has to be under general anesthesia. Since I had to have a surgery on my neck once I know how he feels. I will share my story of that sometime, it is still a little embarrassing really. Lets just say sewing needles don't make tasty snacks. What is worse is that he couldn't eat anything after lunch and can't drink anything after midnight. Can you imagine how terrible that would be. He has to wait until 12:30 for the surgery. Mom says she will bring dad home afterwards and we have to take good care of him. That means lots of napping with dad, we like that. We just ask that you think of him tomorrow and purr for him and his larynx.
