Holy Cats

You see the above picture. We were going outside everyday and it had even reached 75. We don't have any pictures to prove this but it snowed here this weekend. It got very cold and really snowy and it even stuck. Luckily it is gone now but we have wind. Mom says that if I was to go out today I could be a Patches kite. That sounds like it could be a little fun.

Today is the day Dad finds out the results of the biopsy. Mom and Dad are trying to be really hopeful that things are not bad. We don't really want our Dad to have more surgery but we also don't want to think about the awful c word. Mom has yet to hear about the job yet. She has been feeling a little down thinking about it but whatever happens she is glad that she at least still has a job.

Our Grandma and Grandpa cat came to visit last weekend to get things ready for the baby. If we aren't around much in the next few weeks that might mean Mom had the baby. She is our primary typist but we will beg Dad to come on and make an announcement. Her due date is April 10 but she has had a few rough evenings with little sleep and she says she is ready to be done. We will keep checking on our friends blogs even if we can't post so we won't go away completely. We will update tomorrow about Dad's appointment. Wish us luck.

Nemo's way of going outside

I have been getting comments on how some of you are a little afraid of the outside world. I am too so I wanted to show you a pictorial guide on how to make those first few steps. I have two ways of doing this and this is the method for those that are just scared of anything outside.

This is right outside the door. I'm a little crabby because I usually am dragged out here because Patches wants to go straight out where I like to take my time but Mom or Dad are holding onto two leashes. You have to sniff and investigate. Make sure you have an escape route. I'm looking at my door hoping I can figure out how to get in.
Take some slow steps down. One paw at a time but always keep an eye on your safety zone.It is OK to get a little scared and go back. The world is a very scary place and these things take time.
This move I call the stretch move. You act as though you are stretching and it makes you look a little less of a scaredy cat.

If you repeat the above steps you will eventually get to the bottom of the steps. It is still pretty scary at the bottom but it is a lot of work to climb back up the steps so might as well enjoy some grass or a good dirt pile before going back up. These things take time so don't expect to get to the bottom right away. I am very scared of everything. If the wind blows a leaf I am ready to go inside. My Mom and Dad think its very funny that even if they sniff, I jump. If I can do it anyone can.

We love boxes!

This is Patches. Since Nemo got to have a day to himself I am here to tell you about this new two story house I have. Mom has taken lots of pictures and I'm excited to show it off.

You see this is a box. There were baskets inside this box and we have two of these boxes. Also that is not Nemo on the side. We don't have a name for him but he is very skinny looking to us.When it is turned upside down it makes a little house. Don't mind the litter on the floor. We make messes. This is our new two story house. We need to come up with a name for that silly cat thing on the first floor. Maybe we'll make a post all about him later. The only problem is the 2nd floor kinda moves a little when you move but it really is a nice house.

Does anyone else have houses that they would like to show off?

Fashion Friday with Nemo

Sorry we haven't been around much this week. We have been busy and the weather has been nice so we get to go out every night when Mom and Dad come home and by the time we get back in and sit down Mom and Dad are beat so they won't help us. Mom was having some contractions last night so we had to keep her company while she was awake. The doctor said Mom was just having some sort of false labor. Seems weird to us. Our Mom has a job interview today as well so please keep her in your thoughts. We've been asking for lots of purrs lately but keep them coming. This would be great for Mom to get this job after the baby is born and it would mean more green papers which always means more food.

I'd like to show off my new fashion today. Since we have been outside a lot lately and I have finally moved from the steps I got a safari hat. I'm kinda new to wearing something on my head so these are by no means professional photos.

My pink bandanna kinda clashes but whatever.I'm waiting by the door. Ever since I realized the outside isn't that scary I meow all night after coming in. I drive my Mom and Dad nuts. From the side view you can see that the hat has holes for my ears. I'm still waiting for the door to open.

Tired Toes Tuesday

Yesterday was a really nice day. It was over 70 here and really sunny. Our dad took the day off to recover and he took us outside. Then when Mom came home we got to go out again. Patches explored and walked and walked and tried to eat lots of dead grass. Nemo came out and rolled in the dirt, had to go in and get a snack and then became a little more adventurous.Checking out this leaf before eating more grass.

The world outside is very scary.

Now we are tired, too much fresh air. Nemo is upstairs sleeping and Mom didn't want to get up to take a picture so here is Patches relaxing her tired toes in the new rocking chair. Our grandmacat made this rocking chair for Mom and Dad and the new baby. We love it though since there is a nice blanket on it. Mom will share pictures of us being cute with all the new baby stuff soon she promises. We like all the new things to play with and the new bed to sleep in.I'm the babycakes so I get to be rocked to sleep.

Happy Saint Patricks Day everyone. We almost forgot about it or we would have done an Irish post.

Dad's Update

We are sorry that it has taken us so long to update on Dad's house. Mom has been busy and she is our main typist around here. Dad is doing really well. He had trouble getting an IV again and the last time he had a biopsy that had troubles with intubation after he was asleep so they had to intubate him while he was awake. This was the worst part of the whole ordeal. Being awake when they are trying to stick a tube down your throat is no fun and it has really made him sore. Your natural reaction to something going down your throat is to gag and to tense up so his muscles in that area are sore. The surgery didn't take that long and grandmacat was there with Mom so that helped pass the time. The doctor showed them pictures of Dad's throat. The growth grew back in the exact same place. They took it off again but the concern is that their is a base to this growth further down that they can't really get to without a possible compromise to his voice box. The big concern is the fact that it grew back so quickly. It was removed in November and here we are again 4 months later and it has grown back. We will find out at the end of March what kind of tissue it is. Either way there are drawbacks. If the tissue is pre-cancerous again it is a waiting game and most likely another biopsy in a few months unless it never comes back. If it comes back as cancerous cells than we would likely have it in early stages and use direct radiation on it. We just hope our Dad doesn't have to go through the intubation like that again so it is a waiting game. Again, we encourage all you pets that have humans who smoke to help them to quit. Our Dad has never smoked but his Mom and Dad did when he was younger so he grew up around 2nd hand smoke. This is likely the cause of his problems. We encourage you also that if you notice your humans having a hoarse voice or prolonged sore throat or ears to ask their doctor about seeing an Ears, Nose and Throat doctor. Dad's general practitioner kind of put aside the issues until he requested a referral and without it we wouldn't have known about all these problems. Enough of the doom and gloom. Tomorrow we will be back to tell you about our Grandmacat being here and how it doesn't please us and maybe some cute pictures of us messing with baby stuff. Thanks for all the purrs, keep them coming. Our Dad really loves to hear them.

Dad's Surgery

Today is the day of Dad's surgery. He is having another biopsy done on his larynx to check the tissue. Last time it came back as moderate dysplasia. We are hoping for it to either be the same or nothing this time. We need all the purrs we can get for him so Dad can be healthy. Dad's surgery is at 1:15pm. Last time the surgery didn't take that long but then he has to recover and then there is an hour drive back home. We will either update in the evening when the humans get back or Saturday. The results on the other hand make us all nervous. Mom says that she will be happy to know something and to know where to go from there. Dad is young and strong and whatever it is we know he can fight it.

Mom went to the doctor today too for them to check on the baby. Mom is at week 36. We think that is a very long time to be carrying a baby around. We think she agrees because shes always whining about something hurting. They want to do another ultrasound to check the position of the baby because the doctor couldn't tell if the head was down or not. Stupid doctor is going on vacation next week too. Well enough for updates for now. We will let you know how our dad feels tomorrow. It might be a week or so when we find out anything from the biopsy.

Cold Again

We knew it was too good to be true. It got cold again. It is crazy that it can go from almost 70 to low 30's in a short time. Mom had the heating pad out to help with her aches and Nemo kind of took over. We have to do what we can to keep warm. Patches likes to get wrapped up in the blanket to stay warm. It has also been raining for 3 days. We aren't feeling the time change either. We are still an hour off so didn't wake up Mom and Dad for breakfast. We have some fun stories to tell this week so hopefully the gloom and cold go away soon so we can share our fun stories.

Easy Like Suday Morning

This is our new blanket. Patches has been collecting paw points for almost 5 years. One of the things she purchased was this new blanket. It is very nice to cuddle on.

We had some real nice weather the last few days and we got to go out in our harnesses. It was almost 70 here. That is strange for us. We like to go out at night for some reason. We had to come in early because there was a bat outside and Mom didn't want it in her hair. We hope this bat issue goes away once the weather improves and stays nice. We then got some thunderstorms. We forgot about what thunder sounded like and got scared and ran around....at 2 in the morning. Mom was not pleased. We are taking it easy today. Our grandmacat is coming Thursday evening and we don't really like her. She is very loud so we need to prepare for this. Dad's surgery is Friday. We will keep everyone posted when we get closer and when we get back. There are new pictures on the camera but the camera is upstairs and we are downstairs. This poses a problem so we will post them soon.

Catching up, again

Sorry we have been not around much this week. Our Mom and Dad had a party this weekend and 10 people we didn't know came to our house to play video games with Dad and then all stay the night. We hid out in the bedroom most of the time. This week has been hectic with cleaning up from the party, laundry and then trying to be lazy for awhile. Mom is complaining again about not getting sleep. It is Nemo's fault Mom is not sleeping. Lately he wants to lay up by my Mom which is my spot. He then paces back and forth and walks all over. Now mom has been given us a scoop of nip before going to bed and we sleep all night. It makes it much easier for Mom to sleep.

Here I am patiently waiting for my nightly nip.

Fifth Photo Meme

We've been tagged by Tristan and Crikey for the Fifth Photo Meme. It took us a few days to post this because we have been busy. We'll talk about that later. Here are the rules:

1. Open a document or file folder.
2. Click on the fifth folder.
3. Click on the fifth photo.
4. Post the photo and describe it.
5. Tag five other bloggers for the Meme.

We had to alter this a little because our 5th folder did not have 5 pictures in it so we went to the 6th folder and chose the 5th picture. This picture was taken January 5 of 2005. This is one of my first times in the snow and as you can see it was very deep and I sunk down pretty far.

We are terrible at choosing others for these things because it seems to be by the time our Mom gets around to doing these, they have been passed around. It is a fun meme so if anyone would like to do it then go for it.
